A small pause, and some changes coming in July
Over the next month, I won’t be publishing new essays. This is because I want to take some time to reorganise this publication and think more intentionally about what I want it to be.
One of the recurring themes in my writing is the tension between doing more and doing things with greater care. It felt strange to write about slower ways of being while rushing from one piece to the next without making space to reflect on the shape of the publication itself.
So rather than continuing as usual, I’m taking June as a planning and restructuring month.
Because paid subscribers are supporting work that won’t be published during this period, all current paid subscriptions will receive an additional month of access at no extra cost.
What’s changing?
The biggest change is that I want to create a clearer distinction between free and paid subscriptions. My goal is not to put more content behind a paywall. It’s to make the difference between the two offerings more meaningful and intentional.
Free subscribers will receive:
One free essay each month on neurodivergence, trauma, chronic illness, slower living, and different ways of being.
Ongoing shorter reflections in Notes.
The monthly essay will be available to everyone for two weeks before moving to the paid archive.
Paid subscribers will receive:
Everything included in the free subscription, plus:
An additional in-depth essay each month + access to the archive.
Monthly reflections on what I’m reading, watching, and the ideas that linger.
Monthly journal prompts designed to support deeper reflection and integration.
I’ve realised that what people are often looking for isn’t simply more information, but more space to sit with ideas and connect them to their own lives.
Paid subscriptions will increasingly be where that deeper exploration and integration happens.
A new support tier
I’m also introducing a new tier: “Supporter of nuance”.
This tier includes all paid content, but exists primarily for readers who want to support the continued existence of independent, thoughtful, non-clickbait writing.
The internet increasingly rewards speed, certainty, outrage, and simplification.
This publication is trying to do something different. Supporters of nuance help create the time and space needed for more complexity and work that isn’t driven by algorithms.
Pricing changes
These changes will take effect in July.
At that point, the price of a paid subscription will increase from:
€5/month to €8/month
€50/year to €80/year
If you are already a paid subscriber, nothing changes for you. You will keep your current rate for as long as you remain subscribed.
If you’re currently a free subscriber and would like to become a paid subscriber, you can also lock in the current pricing by subscribing before July 1st. As long as your subscription remains active, you’ll continue paying the current rate of €5/month or €50/year.
Thank you
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or arrived recently, thank you for reading. One of the things I’ve valued most about writing this newsletter is that it has attracted people who are interested in nuance and complexity rather than quick answers.
My hope is that these changes will help create a publication that feels more sustainable, more intentional, and ultimately more useful for the people who choose to spend their time here.
I’ll be back in July with the new structure.
Until then, thank you for your patience and your support 💛
